Hello Families,
Here are a few updates:

Fun and Fit Day: There will be a planning meeting this Friday, March 11 from 4-5 in the Library. We desperately need several dedicated people to help in the planning and organizing process for our annual end-of-year celebration. If you are interested but can't make the meeting, please let me know. (We will need 50 or 60 volunteers to help on the day of the event, so if you know you want to help out then, mark your calender for Friday, June 3rd, but you do not need to come to the planning meeting on Friday).

Officers' Elections: As we've mentioned before, this is the last year some of us will be serving you on the Home and School Association. Myself, Angela Clark (vice president), Lisa Lobitz Ashenfelter (treasurer) and Kathy Faenza/Amy Keller (recording secretaries) will be stepping down to make way for new parents to become involved. In this week's Wednesday folder (3/9/11), you will receive a short description of each position's responsibilities, along with a nomination form. Please take the time to review them and think about who you know who might enjoy doing what we do. Speaking for myself, serving on this board has been the most rewarding volunteer experience I have ever had. It's been an opportunity to get to know many of the students and most of the teachers and staff at the school. I've made so many new friendships and have met so many of you because of my involvement. The work we do at our school is extremely important but it's also fun. And, I think the other officers would agree, there's nothing better than seeing the positive impact our efforts have on the children and their learning environment.

I encourage you to think about how you can help at Cook-Wiss. Think about how can you make things better or different. How can you impact our school and the environment in which your children spend their days? Look for the papers in the Wed. folder and start thinking about how you can help continue our tradition of having a strong Home and School Association.

And, please don't hesitate to ask, if you have any questions about what we do, or would like to spend a few hours working with us to learn more about these volunteer positions.

Cheryl Dore, Home & School President
